What the course is about

<p>In your class you will:</p>

<ul>
<li>Work on your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills</li>
<li>Complete classroom and homework activities to help you improve your English skills</li>
</ul>

<p>If your tutor thinks you are ready, you can work towards an ESOL Entry Level award. Your progress will be checked weekly on an Individual Learning Plan (ILP).</p>

<p>You need to attend an Admissions Session before you start this course: click on the View sessions button. Many courses start in September, but we enrol learners at set times throughout the year. Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>Your tutor will help you to decide when you have the skills to take a qualification. You and your tutor will agree goals for you to work on in class. Together you will look at these regularly.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This course is for you if:</p>

<li>You want to improve your speaking and listening, reading and writing skills for work and/or personal reasons</li>
<li>You can attend every class</li>
<li>You can complete any homework given</li>
</ul>

<p>You do not need any previous experience or qualifications in English to attend this course. Learners who have attended this course said, <q>I am grateful to the tutors who have helped me with my grammar and spelling.</q></p>

Materials and costs

<p>You will need an A4 folder, pen and paper. A bi-lingual dictionary would be useful.</p>

<strong>Home study:</strong> you will be required to do significant study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
