What the course is about

<p>The purpose of this <strong>admission session interview </strong>is to provide you with:</p>

<ul>
<li>A taste of Therapeutic counselling through practical activities, including group discussion based on given scenarios. This will also provide tutors with an idea of your current level of skills and enable them to assess your suitability for the course.</li>
<li>An interview with the course tutors.</li>
<li>Full details of the course programme and the options available.</li>
<li>Details of work placement opportunities.</li>
<li>Information as to the pre-requisite skills or qualifications needed prior to enrolling.</li>
<li>Information as to the commitment and home study requirements.</li>
<li>A Skills Check for English, maths and ICT as appropriate.</li>
<li>Details of learning support or financial support that may be available to you.</li>
<li>An opportunity for you to ask questions about the programme.</li>
<li>Advice on what you may be able to do after the course and how to get the necessary qualifications to work as a counsellor.</li>
</ul>

Pre-course information session or interview

<p>You will need to apply for a place on this admission session before being accepted onto the course. As part of this session, there will be an <strong>interview</strong> with the tutors to assess your suitability to begin a Level 4 Counselling course. The tutors make their assessment based on CPCAB&#039;s criteria. <p>Please ensure that you have read the course information sheet for the relevant course(s) before attending this enrolment session.</p>

<p>This Admissions Session will be held via Microsoft Teams.  During the first part of the session, you will learn about the course, what is involved and possible career pathways. There will then be a group discussion. After this, you will be given a personal interview time. Please log back into Teams for this session which will be conducted by two tutors. There will be plenty of support throughout and opportunities to ask questions. </p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams

<p>There will be an assessment of your English, prior to this admission session, so that we can gain an indication of your current level of skills to support you in these areas during your course.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications

<p>This enrolment session is for new or existing learners who wish to join a Level 4 Therapeutic Counselling course.</p>

<p>You will have completed the CPCAB Level 3 Counselling Studies course.</p>

<p>Please bring existing certificates for qualifications in this subject area, or in English or maths, to the enrolment session.</p>

Materials and costs

<p>All materials will be provided, although you may wish to bring a pen and paper with you for making your own notes.</p>

<strong>Home study:</strong> you will&nbsp;be required to do significant&nbsp;study at home between sessions to assist with your learning and progress.<br />

<strong>Proof of identity:</strong> please bring photographic ID and your National Insurance number with you to your first session. You will also need to provide it for any external examinations you take.<br />
<strong>Off-site activities:</strong> with some courses, there may be the opportunity for off-site enrichment activities at additional cost, for example: gallery, museum or exhibition visits. Where this is an integral part of the course, your tutor will discuss the arrangements with you during your induction.<br />
<strong>Parking at centres:</strong> parking at centres may be limited; please be prepared to use on street parking or pay and display car parks.
