Beauty Therapy Studies (Massage) - VTCT Level 3 Certificate

<p>The content of this qualification is comprised of all the required elements to work effectively as a massage therapist including health and safety, client care and communication and body massage incorporating anatomy and physiology and client consultation skills. These units are all mandatory.</p>

<p>Learners also have the opportunity to undertake optional units to enhance their range of practical skills in stone therapy, Indian head massage and massage using pre-blended aromatherapy oils.</p>

<p>A variety of learning activities will be used on this course, including tutor presentation and demonstration, practical application of skills, individual and group work, discussions, Q&A, internet research, individual research and project work. Where relevant, your learning will enable you to develop skills and knowledge required for work. There may be vocational specialist guest speakers, or employers, invited to share their skills and experience.</p>

<p>Regular home study will be necessary to successfully complete this course. You will be supported to develop good study skills. You will initially develop practical skills by working on other learners in your class until you have developed enough skill to offer treatments to clients. It will be the learner’s responsibility to provide models to complete practical assessments. </p>

<p>There may be the opportunity to undertake a work placement during your course. Full details will be shared at induction. Your tutor will also support you to improve your English and maths skills alongside your learning of your vocational subject. If you have declared at enrolment that you are unemployed, you may be invited to meet with an Information, Advice and Guidance Officer or employability member of staff, to identify other learning opportunities that will support you to secure employment or improve your employment prospects. We highly recommend that you engage fully in any other learning opportunities that we help you identify.</p>

<p>You will be required to complete all of the necessary coursework/assignments or exams by the given deadlines. Please note: if you do not successfully complete the course within this academic year, you will not be able to repeat it at the subsidised fee. <p>This is a Level 3 assessed course. Once completed, your work will be marked and internally verified. An external verifier from the awarding body will visit to review your work before you receive your certificate. As soon as your certificate is received by Skills & Learning it will be forwarded to you.</p>

<li><strong>Awarding body</strong>: VTCT</li>
<li><strong>Assignments/Course work</strong>: Your practical skills will be formally assessed throughout the course. You will collect a portfolio of evidence i.e., assignments and written test results, plus other forms of evidence, for example, witness testimonies and photographic evidence.</li>
<li><strong>Examination(s)</strong>: There is no final written exam, but you will complete online tests on each topic as you progress throughout the course.</li>
</ul>

<p>You will negotiate a Personal Learning Plan with your tutor identifying the areas you need to develop; this will be reviewed at regular intervals.</p>

<p>Please note that this qualification must be completed within the deadline set. It may be possible to re-sit the examination within the academic year at an additional fee.</p>

<p>This qualification has specifically been designed to build on existing knowledge and understanding of beauty therapy gained at Level 2, enabling learners to expand the scope of their technical skills to prepare learners for employment in beauty salons, spas and other businesses or as a self-employed massage therapist.</p>

<p>English language and /or maths skills at Level 1/Level 2 are required. You may be asked to complete an online assessment in English (and maths if applicable) prior to submitting a course application or as part of an admission session. There is an expectation that if you enrol on this course, you are willing to commit fully to the period of time involved in this course, the associated home study and the assessed work required, and intend to sit the examination if applicable.</p>

<p>A kit containing all essential items will be provided for you whilst on the course, in order for you to be able to practise outside the classroom at no extra cost.</p>

<p><strong>Please note</strong> these items are on loan to you and <strong>MUST BE RETURNED</strong> at the end of the course. If it is not returned you will be invoiced for the full cost of a replacement. There may be a requirement to obtain course books or other resources to support your study. <p>There are opportunities for a Beauty Therapist to find employment in a variety of areas, including beauty salons, spas, cruise ships, hotels or resorts, make up industry, or self-employment (mobile or home based). You may wish to consider a Level 2 course in Nail Technology, courses in Nail Treatments, a course in Hairdressing or barbering. Other Continuous Professional Development (CPD) courses may be available.</p>
