What the course is about
<p>This qualification is designed to increase your knowledge and understanding of mental health and mental well-being. Successful completion of the required units will allow you to develop in-depth knowledge and understanding of mental health. It will also support progression into relevant employment within the health and social care sector. This qualification will focus on the study of mental health and mental well-being to support different occupational areas, and offer breadth and depth of study, incorporating a key core of knowledge and understanding. </p>
<p><strong>The objectives of this qualification are to help you to understand</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Mental health legislation, services and public attitudes and how these have evolved</li>
<li>How to support mental well-being through various stages of life</li>
<li>Mental ill-health, treatment options available and the potential consequences of mental ill-health</li>
<li>The skills required to work in a mental health service</li>
</ul>
<p>This is a distance learning qualification course where you will use an e-learning package and complete assessment activity electronically. You will be supported by a tutor who will provide feedback (electronically) on your progress and will suggest other learning activities to help you develop the knowledge and understanding you require to successfully complete the qualification. </p>
<p><strong>Qualification content</strong> This qualification consists of 5 mandatory units and you will study learning material, complete activities, and submit assessment questions for marking, for all of these units;</p>

<li>Promotion of Mental Health and Wellbeing</li>
<li>Mental Health Problems: associated issues and consequences</li>
<li>Understanding Mental Ill Health</li>

<p>You should not underestimate the time commitment required to complete a distance learning qualification at Level 3. Your tutor will also support you to improve your English skills alongside your learning of your vocational subject. Please note: if you do not successfully complete the course within the required timescale, you will not be able to repeat it at the subsidised fee.</p>

Assessment of progress, tests, exams
<p>This is a Level 3 assessed course. The online materials have been developed to provide you with the underpinning knowledge you require to complete the qualification. The learning materials are mapped to learning outcomes required by awarding organisations to satisfy the requirements of the qualification. At the beginning of your course, you will be assigned a tutor who will be able to mark your work on-line and give you feedback and suggestions as you progress. Once completed, your work will be marked and internally verified. An external verifier from the awarding body will review your work before you receive your certificate. The visits from external verifiers only take place twice a year so there may be a delay in certification being awarded after you have completed your course. As soon as your certificate is received by Skills & Learning it will be forwarded to you.</p>

Who the course is for / Previous experience, knowledge or qualifications
<p>We have designed this course to support you with working in the care sector. Successful completion of this course will provide skills and knowledge required for job roles working in care and support. It is normally necessary to hold the Level 2 Mental Health Awareness before applying, but applications are welcomed from learners with relevant work experience in this subject who currently hold other qualifications of Level 2 standard or higher. Learners who are aspiring to this qualification but do not have the above qualifications may like to consider applying to do <a href="https://www.skillsandlearningace.com/courses/course/mental-health-awareness-distance-learning-tquk-level-1-award/" target="_blank">Mental Health Level 1</a> or <a href="https://www.skillsandlearningace.com/courses/course/awareness-of-mental-health-problems-distance-learning-ncfe-cache-level-2-certificate/" target="_blank">Mental Health Awareness Level 2</a> first. <p>English language skills at Level 2 are required. You will be asked to complete an online assessment in English after submitting a course application.</p>
