What the course is about

As we celebrate Nowruz at Leighton House, join us for a fun, energetic and uplifting dancer-led workshop. This family-friendly traditional Persian dance workshop will draw on simple steps and celebratory motifs from different regions of Iran. Across the country, communities express identity through regional dances linked to language, dress, local work and the seasonal calendar, from agricultural planting and harvest gestures to pastoral, coastal and festive circle dances shared at weddings and holidays. Adults and children will learn steps together, promoting wellbeing and happiness through music and dance.
Dance is an important part of Nowruz, the Persian New Year that celebrates spring, renewal and the natural world. Families gather to eat, sing and dance together; this workshop recreates that spirit in an inclusive setting where participants of all backgrounds can experience Persian culture through movement, music, and shared joy.
