What the course is about

This course is designed to help parents and carers confidently support their child’s learning. It provides a clear and practical overview of the key science ideas children encounter at school, explained in simple, everyday language. Parents will learn how science is taught in primary settings, why curiosity and questioning are so important, and how to help children understand topics such as plants, animals, materials, forces, space, and simple investigations.

The course also offers practical tips for explaining scientific concepts at home, helping with homework, and encouraging children to ask questions and think like young scientists. No science background is required—this course focuses on building confidence, improving understanding, and making science enjoyable for both adults and children.

By the end of the course, parents will feel better equipped to talk about science, support classroom learning, and inspire their child’s natural interest in the world around them.
