What the course is about

This practical and interactive workshop explores 2D and 3D shapes and how they appear all around us in everyday life. Learners will investigate common shapes found in homes, workplaces, nature, and design, developing a clear understanding of their properties, uses, and importance. Through hands-on activities and real-life examples, participants will build confidence in recognising, naming, comparing, and using shapes in meaningful contexts.

The workshop also highlights how strong numeracy skills support daily living and future opportunities. Improving shape knowledge can help with tasks such as reading plans, measuring spaces, organising objects, and supporting children with homework. More broadly, developing numeracy skills can unlock job opportunities, lead to higher wages, and provide a strong foundation for further study. Whether you are looking to boost practical maths skills, support family learning, or build confidence for work and education, this workshop offers an accessible and supportive introduction to shapes in the world around us.
