What the course is about

Across the five weeks we will explore different weaving techniques, from the simplest interweaving of coils to more complex patterns such as vertical weaving that mimics wicker basketry. There will be opportunities to experiment with both white and red clays, and to make functional pieces or sculptural, abstract forms. This is a handbuilding course and therefore does not include throwing on the wheel. Students enrolling in this course should be experienced and confident in handling clay and understand the basic pottery principles of coiling. All pieces made by learners are for them to keep at the end of the course. (Please note the dates of this course extend over school half term and so do not enrol if you are not able to attend all five weeks).
