Description
This course will give you the skills to follow and understand the main points of discussion and in return give your own points of view and provide appropriate responses. You will be able to read and understand texts in different formats using techniques appropriate to the task.
What can students expect?
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
Take part in discussions/exchanges about familiar topics, make active contributions, with one or more people in familiar situations.
Read and understand straightforward texts that explain, inform or recount information.
Write short texts with some awareness of the intended audience.
Spell familiar and unfamiliar words.
Use a wider range of vocabulary and structure your sentences.
How will the course be assessed?
Your tutor will give you regular feedback throughout the course and you will get the opportunity to complete an end of course evaluation form.
What is the progression route?
You will be offered advice and guidance during the course on what you could do next. For example, you could progress to a Level 1 English course, an accredited ICT course or another accredited course.
How long is the course?
12 weeks
Are there any costs?
Free if you are a UK/EU resident, registered unemployed and in receipt of out-of-work benefits.
The course is also free if you are earning less than £20,572.50 per annum and you cannot afford the cost of your course.
