Description
Do you want to develop your IT skills to be confident to work in an administrative role and make yourself more attractive to employers? You will gain a Functional Skills qualification in ICT which will cover - email and file management - presenting information in the correct format – learning how to design professional looking posters from scratch – learn how to start using Excel to make calculations and design charts - maintaining a secure network - taking into account relevance, bias and copyright when using information.
What can students expect?
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
Interact with and use an ICT system and tablet (iPad) to meet given needs e.g. use simple search features to find and select information.
Demonstrate understanding of the need to stay safe and respect others when using ICT-based communication.
Read, send and receive email
Enter, edit and format information in Word to achieve the required outcome.
Produce relevant pieces of work on Power Point
Insert data, calculate simple formulas and use basic Excel functions
Teaching method/style?
You will learn using a combination of working in groups and on an individual, one-to-one basis through practical activities and demonstrations. Individual Learning Plans will record your progress and achievement.
External Qualification
On successful completion of an exam you will gain an Entry 3 Functional Skills qualification in ICT.
What is the progression route?
You will be offered advice and guidance during the course on what you could do next. For example, you could progress to a Level 1 qualification in ICT or another accredited course.

Free if you are a UK/EU resident, registered unemployed and in receipt of out-of-work benefits.
The course is also free if you are earning less than £20,572.50 per annum and you cannot afford the cost of your course.
