What can students expect?
It is a course for everyone who would like to learn how to use the sewing machine and create a simple piece of work for themselves or to give as a gift!
At the end of this course, you should be able to:
How to thread the machine and wind a bobbin
How to sew straight seams and how to finish them
How to cut and pin fabric using a simple pattern
Understanding and demystifying sewing patterns including their mysterious language and symbols
Make a fabulous cushion cover with a button
Make a handy boxy tote bag
Teaching method/style?
You can choose to use one of our machines or you’re very welcome to bring your own if you’d like to learn to use it. You will receive plenty of individual attention from the tutor, who will guide you to ensure you learn to sew.

No entry requirements.
What is the progression route?
We will give you all the information about your next steps before you finish the course. The tutor will help you to decide on your progression. There will be an opportunity to arrange 1:1 meeting with career specialist.
