Description

STEP-UP Photography is a practical photography course for learners who would like to develop a basic understanding of the fundamental principles of photography and visual communication. The course comprises of a mixture of theoretical and practical learning.
The first few sessions will ground learners with a technical understanding of using a camera in manual mode. Learners will be introduced to a multitude of photographic styles, working across a photographic studio, darkroom and taking part in photo walks. The course will build confidence and guide learners to develop their visual language with the support of peer and tutor feedback.
The aim is for learners to leave the course confident to continue with their photography practice. The group will collaborate towards a zine to showcase 1-2 images per learner. This will include a short artist bio and a written piece of text to go alongside images. Learners will develop their confidence in talking about their work, giving, and receiving peer feedback.

The above outcomes which will form the foundation of learners ongoing photography practice.
