The workshop will discuss the key skills and knowledge related to safeguarding, boundaries, the role of support workers and volunteers at the Spires centre.
Kitchen Induction will be part of the workshop.

What can students expect?

At the end of this course, you should be able to:
Identify personal goals and practical ways to achieve these
Have knowledge of safeguarding vulnerable adults
Identify a least 3 responsibilities as a support worker

Teaching method/style?

Classroom session will be a mixture of whole group discussion, small group work, working in pairs and individually.

What is the progression route?

The opportunity to volunteer regularly at Spires either in our day centre /adult learning classes/office administration.
Progression onto the OCN accredited Springboard to Support Work . This course will further explore the skills and knowledge required to work within the homelessness, health and social care field.
Further training/educational courses at local colleges.
Volunteer placements with other organisations.
Part-time/full-time employment (if requested we can provide a professional reference for you upon completion of the course).
