The course is for parents and carers of SEN children who are awaiting diagnosis or has been diagnosed with autism.
The course will explain what autism is, what the challenges might be in every day life including communication and interaction problems and sensory processing.
You will find out what the difference is between a tantrum and a meltdown.
We will discuss strategies that can help children with autism.
What can students expect?
At the end of this course, you will be able to:
Identify some commonalities in individuals with autism
Understand what sensory overload is and how to avoid it
Recognise a meltdown and identify strategies to support
Support your autistic child in everyday situations
