Preparing to Study Functional Skills English

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">This short online course </span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">will prepare you to study a Functional Skills qualification course. In this time your teacher will also assess you to see if you are ready for a qualification course. At the end the course you will either progress on to studying Functional Skills English or you will continue to develop your English skills on a tailored learning course. </span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">Learners preparing for an intensive Functional Skills English course, returning to learning or progressing from ESOL to studying Functional Skills English</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">You will be asked to undertake a BKSB test online to determine your level.  Please also tells us on enquiry whether you have already gained a qualification in English.  We regret we are unable to take anyone who has gained a GCSE C grade (level 4 or above) or a Functional Skills L2 in English.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">Writing implements (including a highlighter) and notebook. </span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">The three components of the course should give you the skills to use English effectively. You will follow the rules to actively participate to a formal group discussion on a motivating topic, you will research and summarise an online article and you will choose a suitable topic for a personal presentation</span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">. </span></span></span></span></p>
