What is this course about?
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">This short course </span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">will prepare you to study a Functional Skills qualification course. In this time your teacher will also assess you, to see if you are ready for a qualification course. At the end the course you will either progress on to studying Functional Skills Maths or you will continue to develop your Maths skills in a tailored learning course. </span></span></span></span></p>
Who is the course for?
<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">Learners preparing for a Functional Skills Maths course, returning to learning or looking to improve their Maths skills using English progressing from an ESOL course</span></span></p>
Any previous experience/qualifications you need to do the course
<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">You will be asked to undertake a BKSB test online to determine your level. Please also tells us on enquiry whether you have already gained a qualification in Maths.</span></span></p>
What you need to bring with you
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">Writing implements (including a highlighter), a ruler, a calculator and a notebook. </span></span></span></span></p>
How you will be assessed
<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">The two components of the course should give you the skills to perform basic calculations and solve simple worded problems. You will solve simple problems using addition, subtraction, division and multiplication up to 2 digit numbers</span></span><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">. </span></span></span></span></p>
How much studying will I need to do outside the lesson?
<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Source Sans Pro",sans-serif">Approximately 5 hrs</span></span></p>
