What is this course about?

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">This qualification provides a starting point for deciding whether a career in the adult social care sector is right for you. It develops a basic knowledge of the sector, covering the type of job roles and services within it, the role of communication and the importance of valuing the individuals being cared for.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">The course is made up of 5 Units:</span></span></p>

<ol>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Introduction to the adult social care sector </span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">The values and principles of adult social care</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Skills and attitudes needed to work in adult social care</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Awareness of communication in adult social care</span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif">Roles and responsibilities of the adult social care worker</span></span></li>

Who is the course for?

<p><span style="font-size:11.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Calibri&#34;,sans-serif">This qualification is aimed at a range of learners who are thinking about a career in adult health and social care and who wish to explore roles within the field. </span></span></p>

Any previous experience/qualifications you need to do the course

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">Learners will be expected to have Level 1 English, or equivalent skills.</span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">Learners must have basic digital skills to be able to complete and upload work.</span></span></p>

What you need to bring with you

How you will be assessed

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">This is a portfolio based course. Assessment tasks will be set weekly and will vary from written assignments, quizzes, creating posters.</span></span></span></span></p>

How much studying will I need to do outside the lesson?

<p><span style="font-size:10.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Source Sans Pro&#34;,sans-serif">Homework tasks will be set every week, so learners should be prepared to spend 2-3 hrs each week outside of the lesson time to complete these assignments.</span></span></p>
