What the course is about

Inspired by poet Jacqueline Saphra, Hetty Cliss will guide participants through sonnet form as “a gift: free, beautiful and limitless in possibility.” In this workshop, we will examine the characteristics of the sonnet form, harnessing its power as a generator for new writing and a structure to give existing ideas shape. Using the works of Richard Scott, Marilyn Hacker, Diane Seuss, and Terrance Hayes, we will explore the magic of contemporary sonnets before turning our hand at writing our own sonnet or ‘sonnet-esque’ poems.
