Who this course is for

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">Learners will improve their mathematical skills and demonstrate the ability to apply mathematical thinking to solve problems successfully in the workplace, in the home and in other real-life situations. </span></span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">At the end of the course, if learners pass a mock exam paper, they will have the opportunity to sit a nationally recognised qualification in Functional Skills Mathematics at Entry Level 3.</span></span></span></span></p>

What you will learn

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><strong><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">By the end of the course learners will be able to:</span></span></strong></span></span></p>

<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">Confidently carry out calculations of whole and decimal numbers using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division e.g. calculate the total cost of shopping items, check for correct change, find the cost per person when splitting a restaurant bill etc.</span></span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">Work confidently with simple measures, e.g. find the length and width of a room, calculate a journey time, read time in digital and analogue, take metric weights of items.</span></span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">Work confidently with data, e.g. find data from a bar chart, list or table, create chart, graph or table from given data. </span></span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">Perform simple calculations with and without the use of a calculator.</span></span></span></span></li>

<p><span style="font-size:11pt"><span style="font-family:Calibri,sans-serif"><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="color:black">Learners will be expected to demonstrate these outcomes, and others, confidently and consistently, by the end of the course.</span></span></span></span></p>
