Description

Monoprinting with a Gelli Plate is a simple, fun, and accessible process that doesn’t require a printing press. Each print is truly unique, and the results are immediate and rewarding. This workshop introduces the colourful world of gelli printing, with a focus on simple techniques, playful layering and botanical textures

What can students expect?

Learners can expect a relaxed, supportive, and hands-on session exploring colour, layering, and texture using botanicals, stencils, and found materials. You will learn simple techniques through guided demonstrations and the use of various tools, creating unique monoprints that are perfect for collage, cards, or display, while having plenty of freedom to experiment. You will leave with a handful of one-of-a-kind prints.

Previous experience required?

No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to play.

What is the progression route?

The five-week course starting in June will teach more advanced gelli printing techniques, including image transfer, layering and making small sets of prints that work well together. These skills can help learners move into mixed media, textiles or other printmaking activities

Are there any extra costs?

No. Fee includes materials.

What should students bring?

<li>Botanicals – leaves or flowers collected from nature (no need to buy anything)</li>
<li>Apron or old shirt </li>
</ul>

Teaching method/style?

The session is learner-centred, practical and inclusive, with clear demonstrations and guided exploration. Learners will also have time to experiment independently. The atmosphere is relaxed and supportive, with individual guidance to suit different abilities and learning styles.

Equipment Required

Learners may wish to bring their own acrylic paints if they have a preferred colour palette.
