This course is suitable for learners who have done a ?‘Get by in Spanish on Holiday’ course, or a short Spanish Beginners course, and who would like to get to know more of the basics of Spanish, which they will need when travelling in Spain or Latin America.

Description

Learn some Spanish for travelling in this friendly and interactive class and get to grips with basics language skills that you will need when travelling in Spain or Latin America

What can students expect?

To learn some basic ‘survival’ Spanish to enable learners to cope in essential, simple situations 

Topics may include: greetings and introductions, finding your way around, booking accommodation, visiting places of interest, shopping, travelling around, eating out, asking and answering questions, dealing with emergencies, having a simple social conversation. 

You will quickly revise, and consolidate and then learn more basic vocabulary: numbers, nationalities, countries, greetings and courtesies, food and drink, asking and replying to very simple questions about yourself e.g. Where do you come from?, What languages do you speak? etc

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but please check with the tutor via the admin office first, before enrolling

Previous experience required?

Yes, this course is not for complete beginners! At least 20 - 30 hours of learning Spanish on eg a ‘Holiday Spanish’ or ‘Get by on holiday in Spain’ course is necessary to join this course

Spanish Level 1 A, Term 1

Teaching method/style?

The course is based on the communicative approach: 

- active student interaction 

- some basic reading and writing activities 

- pair, small group and whole class work 

- role play 

- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
