Description

This course is a continuation of the Portuguese for Beginners course which started in the Autumn term.

The course will introduce elementary key vocabulary and grammar to enable learners to acquire a basic foundation of Portuguese and to get by in everyday situations.

What can students expect?

Learn some useful phrases that you can use when visiting any Portuguese speaking country. Learners will be introduced to a range vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation, providing them with all the basic knowledge of the language.

 

 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move to online delivery if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but please check with the tutor via Stoke Lodge before joining.

Previous experience required?

Yes, at least 30 hours of learning Portuguese at beginner level.

What is the progression route?

Portuguese Level 1A.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes, a course book may be used; details will be given at the first session.

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Some homework exercises will be set every week, in order to enable learners to consolidate what they have learned during the sessions.

What should students bring?

Pen & paper

An A4 ringbinder for handouts and photocopies

Teaching method/style?

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active student interaction

- emphasis on speaking and listening skills

- also some reading and basic writing activities

- pair, small group and whole class work

- role play

- use of realia, pictures and authentic material

- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Equipment Required

Stable internet connection, a PC or tablet if the course moves online.

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
