Description

A welcoming festive sewing workshop, ideal for beginners or those looking to refresh their machine sewing skills, where learners will create handmade Christmas gifts while developing practical sewing techniques and confidence under tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

You will learn how to create a range of simple and festive handmade gifts while developing practical machine sewing skills, including measuring and cutting fabric, using a sewing machine safely and confidently, sewing seams, assembling small projects, and adding decorative finishing touches.

Learners will be able to choose from a selection of gift projects, such as a small bag, tissue holder, or Christmas decoration, all designed to be easily recreated at home. 

By the end of the workshop, you will have completed one or more handmade Christmas gifts to take home, along with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to continue making thoughtful sewn items independently.

Previous experience required?

Some sewing machine experience is helpful, but beginners are welcome. They will be supported to use a sewing machine and make a gift.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on other sewing courses and workshops at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

No. Fee includes materials.

What should students bring?

Most sewing equipment is provided, but if you have them, please bring:

<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Hand sewing needles and thread</li>
<li>Tape measure</li>
<li>Seam un-picker</li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>A pencil and note pad for note taking</li>
<li>Reading glasses if worn</li>
<li>Lunch</li>
</ul>

Sewing machines are available, but you are welcome to bring your own; if so, please also bring the instruction manual. Please let us know in advance if you need to borrow a machine.

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days’ notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
