Description

A welcoming sewing workshop, ideal for beginners or those looking to refresh their machine sewing skills, where learners will create a cosy cowl neck scarf and matching mittens while developing confidence in sewing with knitted fabrics under tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

You will learn how to create a cosy cowl neck scarf and matching mittens while developing practical machine sewing skills for working with knitted fabrics, including selecting and using the correct needle, measuring and cutting stretch fabrics, sewing seams, and assembling simple wearable items.

All materials and patterns will be provided, with step-by-step demonstrations and tutor support throughout the workshop. 

By the end of the workshop, you will have completed a handmade scarf and pair of mittens to take home, along with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to continue sewing simple accessories and projects using knitted fabrics independently.

Previous experience required?

No, however some sewing experience is desirable.

Learners can enrol on other sewing courses and workshops at Stoke Lodge.

What should students bring?

Most sewing equipment is provided, but if you have them, please bring:

<li>Hand sewing needles and thread </li>
<li>Tape measure </li>
<li>Seam un-picker </li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>A pencil and note pad for note taking</li>
<li>Reading glasses if worn</li>
<li>Lunch</li>
</ul>

Sewing machines are available, but you are welcome to bring your own; if so, please also bring the instruction manual. Please let us know in advance if you need to borrow a machine.

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>

Transfers

<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days’ notice, subject to availability.</li>
