Description

A welcoming sewing workshop for learners with some previous sewing experience who want to complete unfinished projects, refresh and develop their sewing skills, and build confidence in garment construction and finishing techniques under tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

You will work on your own sewing project while developing practical sewing skills and greater confidence in garment construction, fitting, and finishing techniques. 

By bringing along your project, pattern, and materials, you will receive tailored tutor support to help you overcome sewing challenges, improve construction methods, troubleshoot problems, and make adjustments for a better fit where needed. 

Sewing techniques will be demonstrated and explained throughout the workshop, providing guidance that is relevant to your individual project. 

By the end of the workshop, you will have made significant progress towards completing your project, and will leave with enhanced skills, knowledge, and confidence to continue and complete your sewing independently.

Previous experience required?

Yes. This is not for beginners wanting to learn to sew.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on other sewing courses and workshops at Stoke Lodge.

What should students bring?

<li>Seam ripper (unpicker)</li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>Pencil and notepad for notes</li>
<li>Lunch</li>
</ul>

Sewing machines are available, but you are welcome to bring your own; if so, please also bring the instruction manual. Please let us know in advance if you need to borrow a machine.

Teaching method/style?

Individual tuition and support will be provided by the tutor throughout the workshop. As learners will be working on their own projects, there will also be opportunities to share ideas, learn from one another, and benefit from peer support.

Course Cancellations and Refunds

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days’ notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
