Description

A course for learners looking to advance their sewing skills after completing the "Everything You Need To Know About Sewing For The Beginner - Part 1" course or a similar beginner-level course.

What can students expect?

Building on the skills gained in the first course, you will create a garment of your choice, such as trousers, a skirt, a top, or a simple jacket. 

These projects will introduce techniques such as inserting zips and sewing button fastenings, helping you further develop your dressmaking skills and confidence. 

The tutor will provide guidance on selecting suitable patterns, fabrics, and notions, with advice on purchasing materials available during the first lesson. 

There will also be demonstrations of zip insertion and buttonhole construction, along with opportunities to practise these techniques before incorporating them into your project.

Previous experience required?

Yes. This course is for learners who have completed the Everything You Need To Know About Sewing For The Beginner-Part 1 course or similar.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on other sewing courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learner will provide fabric and pattern for their chosen project.

Work set between sessions?

Some work may be done at home between sessions.

What should students bring?

<li>Seam un-picker </li>
<li>Pins</li>
<li>A pencil and note book for note taking</li>
<li>Reading glasses if worn</li>
</ul>

Sewing machines are available, but you are welcome to bring your own; if so, please also bring the instruction manual. Please let us know in advance if you need to borrow a machine.

Teaching method/style?

Group instruction, individual support, and practical demonstrations.

Equipment Required

Learner will provide fabric and pattern for their project. If needed advice will be given during the first lesson about suitable styles, fabric and pattern.

Course Cancellations and Refunds

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days’ notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
