Description

Learn how to use a sewing machine, how to plan for a project, cut out, sew seams, apply linings, apply zips, etc.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

What can students expect?

Students can expect tuition on using a sewing machine, hand stitching, pressing and pattern reading.

This is a mixed ability course; students will choose their own project and learn at their own pace.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

Previous experience required?

No

Other sewing courses.

Work set between sessions?

Yes. Students will be encouraged to progress with garment at home if possible.

What should students bring?

To the 1st session, please bring:

<li>A piece of fabric, 15cms by 30cms</li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Hand sewing needles and thread</li>
<li>Tape measure</li>
<li>Seam un-picker</li>
<li>Pins </li>
<li>A pencil and note pad will be useful for note taking</li>
</ul>

Sewing machines are available to use but you may wish to bring your own.

The course is all practical. Techniques will be demonstrated during the course.

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
