Description

Learners will complete a range of garments using commercial patterns. They will continue to develop their skills in machine sewing and learn new sewing techniques.

What can students expect?

The tutor will guide you through the essential steps required to create a garment of your choice. This includes fabric cutting, understanding pattern instructions, and assembling the garment. The course will feature demonstrations, handouts, and hands-on exercises. This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but best to join by week 2 to get the most out of the course-especially if you are a beginner.

Previous experience required?

Yes. This course is suitable for learners with previous sewing experience.

What is the progression route?

Learners can re-enrol on follow-on course (s). This enables learners to build confidence through practice, leading to independent work.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners need to supply own patterns, fabrics, and sewing equipment.

Work set between sessions?

Learners will be encouraged to complete work at home to build on the sewing skills learnt during the sessions.

What should students bring?

Initially, you will need a basic sewing kit (see below).

<li>Pins</li>
<li>A pencil and note pad will be useful for note taking. </li>
</ul>

In addition, at the 1st session you will be given advice to purchase patterns fabric and additional equipment. Sewing machines are available to use but you may wish to bring your own.

Refunds and cancellations

<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
