Description

You will learn traditional upholstery skills and methods using traditional materials.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

What can students expect?

Hands-on experience from the start; you will begin work on your project during the first lesson. There may be dust involved when stripping the furniture and loose tacks and staples on the floor therefore dress appropriately and wear suitable footwear.

As the learning is based on individual projects and there will be new and experienced learners, the pace of tuition can be uneven; please be patient!

Please note due to storage limitations, we are unable to store your piece of furniture at the end of the course unless you have enrolled on the next course. Pieces left behind without prior agreement will be disposed of.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but there will be proportionately less time to do the project in.

Previous experience required?

No. Experience of hand and/or machine sewing will be useful.

What is the progression route?

Strip furniture of top cover +/- some or all of the upholstery, reupholster as necessary then fit fabric of learners choice.

Work set between sessions?

No, but if appropriate learners can carry on at home should they wish.

What should students bring?

To the 1st session, please bring:

<li>A manageable piece of furniture, not sofas or chaise longues. Only bring top cover fabric to the first session if doing a very small piece of furniture.</li>
</ul>

Most tools will be available to use but you must bring:

<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Tape measure</li>
</ul>

Optional

<ul>
<li>A mallet if you have one</li>
<li>An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes </li>
</ul>

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
