<p><span style="font-size:16px">Mentoring for Artists in Acrylic, Watercolour and Drawing. Weekend workshops providing creative space and individual tutor support. Ideal for anyone wanting to concentrate on their own work or needing support to overcome a creative hurdle, develop a looser style. Suitable for experienced artists who can work independently. What can students expect?

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Space for Creativity is a unique, practical course which offers physical and creative space to develop your painting. Laurel is an accomplished artist and an experienced mentor. She helps artists examine their methodology and determine what will help their painting develop. Sometimes this simply requires dedicated time, supportive feedback and a sympathetic environment. At other times it may need the courage to make a creative leap of faith. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Laurel&#039;s particular strength is in finding out what is important to you, giving support that will help you set your own goals and being that &#039;critical friend&#039; who will help you achieve them. </span></span></span></p>

Previous experience required?

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">You need to be experienced and confident working independently in your chosen medium. If you want to try a new medium, you need to be able to do this independently with advice and guidance from the tutor.</span></span></p>

What is the progression route?

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif">There is no formal progression route, however, anyone wanting to produce a portfolio for college, an interview or an exhibition will find the workshops useful.</span></span></p>

Work set between sessions?

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">All students will have the chance to talk to the tutor before the workshop to discuss how they want to work and what support they need.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">It will be assumed that you are working independently at home between workshops. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">If you would find it useful the tutor can recommend development work or set challenges for those students who would like some guidance on how to progress, she will discuss this with each learner individually to make it relevant.</span></span></p>

What should students bring?

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">Bring the materials and equipment that are appropriate to the work you have discussed with the tutor. If you are uncertain contact Laurel.  </span></span></p>

Teaching method/style?

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">You will work independently; this is an opportunity for self-directed learning. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">You will produce paintings and drawing based to your own ideas or in response to tutor stimuli. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">You will be supported, encouraged and challenged, whilst receiving constructive feedback.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">The aim of the sessions is to help you identify what you want to do, how you are going to do it and to help you to progress with your painting. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">You will be encouraged to explore alternative possibilities and to be as creative as you possibly can. You will be asked to email the tutor in advance of the workshop to discuss your planned work. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px"><span style="font-family:Arial,sans-serif">The tutor will be able to give advice, make recommendations about how to be ready to make best use of the time available in the workshop. It is also very helpful for her to be well prepared.</span></span></p>

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</span></li>
</ul>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.</span></p>
