Description

A short introduction to acrylics. You will learn new skills to help develop your confidence with acrylics. The course will include painting from still life and landscapes/seascape. 

You will be inspired to develop your own individual style of painting. For absolute beginners. 

The fee includes some materials; tutor will advise you on what to buy during 1st session. 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will transfer online if necessary using ZOOM and WhatsApp.

What can students expect?

You will explore colour mixing, how to apply paint, what equipment, paints, brushes and canvases you need. 

You will learn how to paint landscapes, seascapes and still life, with tutor-led demonstrations, advice and guidance. 

This is a friendly, supported and structured course, which will help you be inspired to develop your own individual style of painting.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

What should students bring?

To the first session, please bring:

· As much of the equipment listed in the Equipment Required box as you already have. Mary will advise you during 1st session. Please make sure you have some paints, brushes and paper/board/canvas to work with 
· An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes 
· Two water containers (jam jar or large yogurt pot) 
· Masking-tape or drawing clips or bull-dog clips

Stable internet connection, a tablet or PC and ability to use ZOOM if course has to transfer online.

Equipment Required

<ul>
<li>Acrylic paint, you can buy a set of mixed acyclic paint in a box to start with</li>
<li>If you wish to buy individual paints the following are what you need. titanium white, lemon yellow, yellow ochre, cadmium red, alizarin crimson, cerlean blue, ultramarine blue, burnt umber, raw umber, payne's grey, veridian green, hookers green and cadmium yellow</li>
<li>Set of brushes, small round various sizes, 4,6 and 8, Filbert, large flat, fan brush, and a rigger brush. Mary will advise you on what brushes to buy during 1st session</li>
<li>A palette knife</li>
<li>Jcloth or kitchen roll</li>
<li>Mixing palette or white plate</li>
<li>Canvas board, acrylic paper or some canvases</li>
<li>An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes</li>
<li>Two water containers (jam jar or large yogurt pot)</li>
<li>Masking-tape or drawing clips or bull-dog clips</li>
</ul>

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
