Description

A welcoming one-day mixed media workshop, ideal for beginners or those wishing to develop their creative skills, with opportunities to explore paint, collage, texture and mark-making techniques while creating expressive layered artwork under tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

A practical introduction to the creative process of mixed media art. Learners will explore paint, collage, layering, texture and mark-making techniques to create expressive and visually engaging artwork. 

Using a variety of materials, including recycled and found objects, botanical imagery, stencils, pens and pastels, you will discover ways to build depth, pattern and personal meaning within your work. There will be opportunities to experiment with colour, develop individual ideas and gain confidence in combining techniques to create more purposeful compositions.

Learners will leave with at least one finished mixed media piece, along with a range of creative approaches, skills and confidence to continue exploring mixed media independently at home.

Previous experience required?

No previous experience is required. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience who would like to develop their mixed media skills further.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on the “Mixed Media”, “Exploring Gelli Printing”, or other printmaking courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Fee includes some materials and equipment, with learners supplying additional items.

<li>Paint brushes (a selection of sizes)</li>
<li>Drawing pencils (set with a range of hard and soft graphite)</li>
<li>Black fine liner(s)</li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>A3 or A4 cartridge paper</li>
<li>Old magazines, book pages or recycled papers</li>
<li>Tissue paper</li>
<li>Fabric scraps, ribbon or lace (optional)</li>
<li>Botanical materials such as leaves, flowers or seed heads (optional)</li>

Demonstrations, guided activities, experimentation, and 1 to 1 tuition in a relaxed environment.
