Description

<div>A welcoming one-day workshop that explores landscape painting in oils, helping painters refine their techniques while drawing inspiration from the picturesque grounds of Stoke Lodge.</div>

What can students expect?

Your tutor will guide you through landscape painting techniques throughout the day, working outdoors in the beautiful grounds of Stoke Lodge when possible, or using tutor-provided photographs if the weather is unsuitable.

Late starters allowed?

No.

Previous experience required?

Yes. This workshop is suitable for those with some painting experience and is not intended for complete beginners.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on other oil painting workshops or the “Oil Painting – Improvers” courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners supply own materials and equipment.

What should students bring?

<ul>
<li>Odourless paint thinner (e.g. Zest It or Sansodor)</li>
<li>Linseed oil, Liquin, or another medium</li>
<li>Assorted brushes (various sizes)</li>
<li>A3 oil painting paper pad</li>
<li>A couple of canvases or boards, size of your choice</li>
<li>Two dippers or small jars</li>
<li>Oil paints, either a set or the following colours: Titanium White, Yellow Ochre, Cadmium Yellow Light, Cadmium Red Light, Alizarin Crimson, Burnt Sienna, Burnt Umber, Viridian Green, Cerulean Blue, Ultramarine Blue, Ivory Black</li>
<li>Packed lunch</li>
</ul>

For brushes and paints, the Winton range by Winsor & Newton and the Georgian range by Daler Rowney are good-quality options for beginners.

Teaching method/style?

Demonstrations, exercises and opportunities for both group and individual tuition and feedback.

Course Cancellations and Refunds

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<ul>
<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
