Description

A welcoming and creative introduction to blind embossed printing for learners of all abilities, helping participants develop essential printmaking skills and techniques, explore the unique possibilities of texture and relief, build confidence through experimentation and creative expression, and create distinctive tactile prints with supportive tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

Learners will create original blind embossed prints by designing and making their own embossing plates from mountboard.

You will learn a range of cutting, layering and collage techniques to build textured printing surfaces, before using a printing press to produce beautifully detailed embossed images. 

You will explore different papers and formats and discover ways to enhance your prints using materials such as chalks, inks and watercolours to add depth and colour.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, however it is recommended you join by the second session to make the most of the course.

Previous experience required?

No. Suitable for both beginners and those with experience.

What is the progression route?

Learners can re-enrol the following term or join other printmaking courses and workshops at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

No. Fee includes materials and equipment.

Work set between sessions?

The tutor may suggest ways to develop design ideas or undertake visual research to enhance future sessions, though this is entirely optional.

Each stage of the process is demonstrated, with individual support provided as needed, alongside opportunities for discussion and reflection to develop ideas and skills.

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>

Transfers

<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
