Description

A welcoming and creative linocut printing course for learners of all abilities, helping participants develop essential printmaking skills, explore design, carving and printing techniques, build confidence through experimentation, and create unique handcrafted prints with supportive tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

Learners will create bold, colourful designs using the relief printing technique of linocut.

You will learn to carve into soft lino, ink the surface, and produce multiple prints to take home. You will explore a variety of mark-making techniques and discover ways to add colour through reduction, multi-block and Jigsaw printing, as well as using Chine collé.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, however it is recommended you join by the second session to make the most of the course.

Previous experience required?

No. Suitable for both beginners and those with experience.

What is the progression route?

Learners can re-enrol the following term or join the “Intaglio & Monotype Printmaking” or other printmaking courses and workshops at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

No. Fee includes materials and equipment.

Work set between sessions?

The tutor may suggest ways to develop design ideas or undertake visual research to enhance future sessions, though this is entirely optional.

What should students bring?

<li>Drawings or photographs of favourite subjects for printmaking ideas.</li>
<li>A willingness to experiment and create</li>

Teaching method/style?

Each stage of the process is demonstrated, with individual support provided as needed, alongside opportunities for discussion and reflection to develop ideas and skills.

See list above. In addition, learners wanting to experiment may bring different papers, or collage backgrounds.

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>

Transfers
