Description

A welcoming one-day gelli printing workshop, ideal for beginners or those wishing to develop their printmaking skills, with opportunities to explore colour, texture, layering and stencils while creating a collection of unique prints under tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

A practical introduction to the creative process of Gelli plate printing. 

Learners will explore colour mixing, layering, texture, mark-making, ghost prints and stencils to create a range of unique monoprints. 

Using everyday objects, found materials and natural forms, you will discover ways to create interesting textures and patterns. There will be opportunities to develop your ideas, design handmade stencils and build confidence in combining techniques to produce more purposeful and visually engaging prints. 

Learners will leave with a collection of experimental and finished prints, along with the skills and confidence to continue Gelli printing independently at home.

Previous experience required?

No previous experience is required. This workshop is suitable for complete beginners as well as those with some experience who would like to develop their gelli printing skills further.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on the “Exploring Gelli Printing”, “Mixed Media” or other printmaking courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Fee includes some materials and equipment, with learners supplying additional items.

What should students bring?

<li>A4 or A3 sketchbook or notebook</li>
<li>Apron or old shirt </li>
<li>Paint brushes (a selection of sizes)</li>
<li>Pencil and pen for notes and planning</li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Tissue paper (white and/or coloured)</li>
<li>Old book pages, sheet music, maps or other recycled papers suitable for printing (optional)</li>
<li>Leaves, grasses, flowers or other natural materials for printing (optional)</li>
<li>Textured materials such as bubble wrap, corrugated card, lace or netting (optional)</li>
<li>Any Gelli printing equipment you already own, such as a Gelli plate or brayer (optional)</li>
</ul>

Demonstrations, guided activities, experimentation, and 1 to 1 tuition in a relaxed environment.

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>

Transfers
