Description

A welcoming and creative gelli printing course for learners of all abilities, helping participants explore colour, layering, texture and pattern, build confidence through experimentation, and create unique finished pieces with supportive tutor guidance.

What can students expect?

Learners will enjoy a structured yet relaxed introduction to gelli printing, exploring colour, layering, texture and pattern using a variety of tools and materials. 

Beginning with playful experimentation, you will develop skills in paint application, brayer techniques and ghost printing, before moving on to methods such as botanical prints, stencilling, masking and creating layered compositions. 

Step-by-step demonstrations and guided activities will support you to gain confidence, build control and design intentional prints. By the end of the course, you will have created a series of prints or finished pieces.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, however it is recommended you join by the second session to make the most of the course.

Previous experience required?

No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to play.

What is the progression route?

Learners can re-enrol the following term or join other printmaking courses at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Fee includes some materials and equipment, with learners supplying additional items.

Work set between sessions?

No formal homework is set between sessions, but learners are encouraged to collect items such as leaves and textured materials, and to explore ideas or reflect on their work between classes if they wish.

What should students bring?

<li>Apron or old shirt </li>
<li>Small set of acrylic paints</li>
<li>Paint brushes (a selection of sizes)</li>
<li>Pencil and pen for notes and planning</li>
<li>Scissors</li>
<li>Tissue paper (white and/or coloured)</li>
</ul>

Teaching method/style?

Tutor demonstrations, practical activities, individual support and group discussion. Learners will develop creative ideas and build confidence in a relaxed and supportive environment.

Equipment Required

See list above. In addition, learners may choose to bring their own gelli plates, tools or materials as the course progresses, and may be asked to bring collected or found objects to use in different sessions.

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>

Transfers

<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>

<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
