Bookbinding 3: Stab Bound Books

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">No hidden stitching, no decorative cover to disguise the structure. Stab binding places the sewing front and centre, with the thread passing through the full thickness of the book and remaining completely visible. Change the pattern, alter the materials, vary the format, and the character of the book changes entirely. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">This term explores the creative possibilities of stab binding, from traditional sewn structures to contemporary interpretations where stitching becomes both a functional and decorative element. Through practical, hands-on sessions, learners will develop bookbinding skills using paper, card, thread and a range of covering materials, discovering how exposed stitching can shape both the structure and appearance of a book. </span></span></span></p>
