Description

Learn to create simple monoprints with fabric paint and a squidgy surface (Gelli plate and silicone sheets). This dries quickly and you can soon use it to inspire some free motion stitching creating your own work of art.

What can students expect?

The tutor will provide paints and printing surfaces for you to explore this enjoyable method of making patterns and prints onto fabric (and paper). You will practise a few techniques then choose your favourite to stitch into. The tutor will give a full introduction to freemotion machine embroidery if you are new to it. Straight stitch/quilting and hand stitch are also possible.

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

No. Suitable for beginners or those with experience wanting to try something new.

Further courses in stitching, embroidery, or printing at Stoke Lodge.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. A small charge for materials and paints of no more than £5 payable to the tutor. Please bring cash.

What should students bring?

<ul>
<li>Sewing machine. Please ensure it is in good working order</li>
<li>Threads (white, black and any others you like) and pre-wound bobbins</li>
<li>Freemotion foot (also known as darning or embroidery foot)</li>
<li>Plain cotton fabric e.g. old sheet</li>
<li>Vilene backing fabric e.g. “stitch and tear” or medium weight interfacing</li>
<li>Embroidery hoop 6”- 8” if you have one</li>
</ul>

 The tutor will provide gelli plates, silicone mats rollers, sponge and fabric paint, however, if you have a printing roller and or any of these please bring them.

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>
</ul>

 

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
