Description

An enjoyable and informal course on choosing the right plants for your garden. Professional garden designer Jason Loh will discuss suitable trees, shrubs and perennials and how to put them together for best effect. No previous experience necessary.

What can students expect?

Expect a supportive atmosphere where your ideas will be encouraged, you will not be expected to know Latin plant names. You will be introduced to a range of ornamental plants and be guided on how to put them together for good effect. Learners are encouraged to suggest other areas of conversation such as pruning and making compost.

What is the progression route?

After getting a better understanding of what plants are available, learners may enjoy the one day courses at Stoke Lodge that focus on specific garden areas, ie, woodland, ponds etc.

What should students bring?

A tablespoon of soil from the garden. 

Photographs of the plot – it helps if a couple are printed out. 

A pencil and note pad.

Teaching method/style?

You will be encouraged to share your experiences of your garden. You will learn through discussions with the tutor and other students. You will be shown a variety of plants for you to handle. You may take notes if you wish.

Course Cancellations and Refunds

If we cancel your course

If you cancel

<li>7 days or more before the start date: refund minus a 20% administration fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no refund provided.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
</ul>

Refund processing

<ul>
<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>
</ul>

Transfers

<ul>
<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
