Description
<p><span style="font-size:16px">Design Your Own Garden – an opportunity to improve and refresh your garden with help from a professional garden designer. You will need a garden on which to base your design.</span></p>
What can students expect?
<p><span style="font-size:16px">Expect a supportive atmosphere where your ideas will be encouraged, discussed and, if appropriate, refined. You will be introduced to new concepts, new materials and new garden styles. The aim is to enable learners to survey their own garden and make a basic landscape plan. The course is aimed at homeowners who wish to design, change or improve their own gardens; it is not intended for professional garden designers. </span></p>

Previous experience required?
<p><span style="font-size:16px">No, but it is important that participants have a garden, or part of a garden, to work on during the sessions. </span></p>
What is the progression route?
<p><span style="font-size:16px">After completing their design, many students decide to take the ‘Choosing plants for your Borders’ course. This enables them to make informed choices about the plants they could use to finish their gardens.</span></p>
Are there any extra costs?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The cost of several sheets of tracing paper is included in the course cost.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You may choose to buy pencils and a pair of compasses from the tutor.</span></span></p>
Work set between sessions?
<p><span style="font-size:16px">No, but students who wish to carry on with their plans at home are welcome to do so.</span></p>
What should students bring?
<p><span style="font-size:16px">A tablespoon of soil from their garden.<br />
Photographs of their plot – it helps if a couple are printed out. <br />
Their completed garden survey, however basic it might seem. <br />
A pencil and note pad, and a pair of compasses<br />
A packed lunch</span></p>
Teaching method/style?
<p><span style="font-size:16px">Tutor presentation and explanation<br />
Learners will be encouraged to share their experiences of their gardens.<br />
Learners will learn through discussions with the tutor and other students, and will be shown a variety of landscaping materials.</span></p>
Refunds and cancellations
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:16px">We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</span></li>
</ul>
<p><span style="font-size:16px">If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.</span></p>
<p><span style="font-size:16px">When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.</span></p>
