Description

A course for experienced watercolourists looking to refine their skills with plenty of painting time and expert guidance in a relaxed setting. It builds on the Watercolours-Intermediates course.

What can students expect?

You will choose your own subject matter and receive one-to-one tuition tailored to your painting and reference image. When appropriate, the tutor will bring the group together for demonstrations and shared guidance. By the end of the course, you will have developed new skills and leave with a strong sense of achievement.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

Previous experience required?

Yes. This advanced course is designed for those with at least an intermediate knowledge of watercolours.

What is the progression route?

Learners can re-enrol on Elham’s weekly courses or Saturday workshops to develop skills and confidence.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners supply own materials.

Work set between sessions?

There is no homework set specifically, but the tutor may provide feedback on anything learners choose to do between sessions.

What should students bring?

Paper

<ul>
<li>300gsm (140lb) cold-pressed (NOT) watercolour paper (e.g. Bockingford)</li>
<li>Block format (glued on all sides) or loose sheets</li>
<li>If using loose sheets, masking tape is fine</li>
</ul>

Optional – Stretching Paper

<ul>
<li>Use a wooden or MDF board (A3 or A2)</li>
<li>Soak paper with a sponge or in cold water (5–10 mins)</li>
<li>Lay flat and tape edges with gummed brown tape</li>
<li>Let dry completely (overnight if possible)</li>
</ul>

Brushes

<ul>
<li>Round brushes: Sizes 4, 6, 10</li>
<li>Dagger brush (e.g. Studio 22 set on Amazon)</li>
<li>Optional: Rigger brush. Also available on Amazon</li>

Paints

Recommended brands: Winsor & Newton Professional, Mijello Mission, PWC, Daniel Smith, Schmincke

Teaching method/style?

Formal teaching and demonstrations in a supportive environment. Throughout the sessions, learners receive one-to-one tutor support, regular learning checks, guidance, and feedback. Additionally, learners have the opportunity to benefit from their peers' work.

Refunds and cancellations

Course Cancellations by Us

• If we cancel your course, your fees will be refunded in full.

• We cannot reimburse the cost of any materials you may have purchased.

Cancellations by You

• If you cancel 7 days or more before the course start date: Refund issued minus a 20% administration fee.

• If you cancel less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: No refund will be issued.

Transfers

• Transfers must be requested at least 7 days before the course start date.

• A 10% transfer fee applies.

• Transfers due to our cancellation of your original course are free of charge.

Illness and Absence

• No refunds are available for non-attendance due to sickness or ill health.

How Refunds Are Issued

• Refunds are returned via the original payment method:

• Booked online or by phone - Refund to the card used.

• Paid in person at Stoke Lodge - Please bring your payment card to the office.

Online Course Access

• Learners are responsible for ensuring they have suitable internet access and equipment before the course begins.

• No refunds will be issued due to technical issues with a learner’s own internet or computer.
