Description

A beginner’s guide to creating a hand-painted patina look. This versatile technique can be applied to art pieces, home decor and interior decorating projects.

What can students expect?

You will explore a variety of patina techniques to create aged, weathered, and textured effects on different surfaces. You will experiment with layering, colour changes, and surface reactions to achieve organic, time-worn finishes. The course encourages creative play, combining artistic intuition with simple, effective methods. Whether you are new to art or looking to expand your skills, you will leave with unique samples and lots of inspiration.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on other art or mixed media classes or work on their own art projects at home. This course helps build confidence to keep learning and making art.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners supply own materials.

Work set between sessions?

Optional.

What should students bring?

<li>Wooden pieces (small panels, boxes, frames)</li>
<li>Cardboard or paper for texture tests</li>
<li>Fabric scraps</li>
<li>Clay or plaster objects</li>
<li>Brushes (various sizes)</li>
<li>Foam brushes</li>
<li>Palette</li>
<li>Your own small objects or surfaces to experiment on (optional)</li>
<li>Water jar</li>
<li>Protective gloves (if some paints or materials might irritate skin)</li>
<li>Palette knives or spatulas (for mixing or applying texture)</li>
<li>Sealant or varnish (if you plan to finish the pieces)</li>
</ul>

Please wear old clothes or bring an apron, as it may get messy.

• If you cancel 7 days or more before the course start date: Refund issued minus a 20% administration fee.

• If you cancel less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: No refund will be issued.

Transfers

• Transfers must be requested at least 7 days before the course start date.

• A 10% transfer fee applies.

• Transfers due to our cancellation of your original course are free of charge.

Illness and Absence

• No refunds are available for non-attendance due to sickness or ill health.
