Transform drawings, or your favourite photographs into a Dry-Point Etching. This course is suitable for beginners and improvers alike. If you choose, you can develop your work further by adding colour.</span></span></p>
What can students expect?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">In this intaglio printing course, you will create a series of etchings by tracing images through a plastic sheet, before inking it up and pulling it through a printing press. Experiment with a range of mark-making techniques to transform a photograph of a special place, pet, or creation of your own abstract design into an impressive piece of art. </span></span></span></p>

What is the progression route?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">This course is an introduction to printing. Learners can progress by joining another printmaking course at Stoke Lodge, for example Lino Printing.</span></span></span></p>
Are there any extra costs?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">No, fee includes materials.</span></span></span></p>
Work set between sessions?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Suggestions will be made for planning design ideas or creating visual research to maximise progress on the following sessions, but nothing compulsory will be set. </span></span></span></p>
What should students bring?
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If you have photographs (A5 size max) you’d like to use, please bring them, but other options will be available if you don’t. The printing process will flip your image, so if it’s important that it’s the right way round (if for example there’s numbers, or it’s a recognisable place) then you’ll need to flip it before printing out your photo. This is simply done on your phone if you go to ‘edit’, then crop and flip.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">We’ll be using ink, so wear old clothes and perhaps bring an apron.</span></span></span></li>

Teaching method/style?
<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Your tutor will demonstrate each stage of the process and one-to-one additional support will be offered where necessary. Ongoing assessment and discussion about the works successes and ideas for improvement will be encouraged by the tutor (Assessment for Learning).</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">You might want to add colour to some of your prints, so some water colour paints, or colouring pencils might be useful. </span></span></span></p>
Refunds and cancellations
<ul>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</span></span></span></li>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.</span></span></span></p>
