Description

This course is ideal for the experienced watercolourist looking to further their skills. It provides ample painting time and plenty of technical advice from the tutor, all in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.

What can students expect?

Learners will select their own subject matter and the tutor will provide one-to-one tuition, tailored to each learner’s painting topic and reference picture. Where appropriate, the tutor will bring the group together for demonstrations, explanations, etc. 

By the end of the course, most participants will have acquired a range of new skills and will leave with a sense of pride and great accomplishment. 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course, so it is best to join by week 2.

Previous experience required?

Yes, as it is an advanced course, learners should have at least a basic knowledge of watercolour.

What is the progression route?

Learners can enrol on Ellie's weekly courses or Saturday workshops to develop skills and confidence.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. Learners supply own materials.

Work set between sessions?

There is no homework set specifically, but the tutor may provide feedback on anything learners choose to do between sessions.

What should students bring?

<li>Watercolour paint set</li>
<li>Palette</li>
<li>Watercolour brushes </li>
<li>Watercolour paper (Cold Press (NOT) 300g/m² - 140lb recommended) stretched on wooden board and reference picture already transferred/sketched on it and ready to paint</li>
<li>Gummed tape (water activated)</li>
<li>Sponge</li>
<li>Drawing pencil (2H)</li>
<li>Eraser </li>
<li>A4 colour copy of reference picture</li>
<li>Water jar</li>
<li>Spray bottle</li>
</ul>

Teaching method/style?

Formal teaching and demonstrations in a supportive environment. One-to-one tutor support, learning checks, guidance and feedback are given throughout the sessions. Learners will also have the opportunity to learn from the work of their fellow learners.

<li>1 ruling pen (Artcoe recommended)</li>
<li>1 roll of masking tape</li>

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access
