Description

This course offers a friendly, supportive, and structured environment for beginners to develop their watercolour skills or for those seeking a refresher on the basics.

What can students expect?

You will learn how to mix colours, create different effects with paint using wet on wet, wet on dry, washes, create shadows, shape and form and many other techniques. You will develop in confidence to create your own individual style. 

This course will be delivered at Stoke Lodge but will move ONLINE if necessary.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but this is a short course so best to join by week 2.

Previous experience required?

No.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes, learners supply own materials. The tutor will advise on what to buy during the 1st session.

Work set between sessions?

No, but practice is encouraged.

What should students bring?

<li>An apron or old shirt to protect your clothes, </li>
<li>2 water containers (jam jar or large yogurt pot)</li>
<li>HB pencil</li>
<li>A rubber</li>
<li>A small paint brush</li>
<li>Any paints if you may already have</li>
<li>Any watercolour paper or a sketch pad you may already have</li>
<li>Masking-tape or drawing clips or bull-dog clips</li>
</ul>

Demonstration, practice and handouts.

Equipment Required

<li>Watercolour sketch pad cold press 300g A4 or A3</li>
<li>A small box of pan watercolour paints (incl. dark and light blues, reds, yellows and greens e.g. Ultramarine blue, Coeruleum blue,Yellow Ochre, Lemon Yellow, Crimson Red, Cadmium Red, Titanium White Green) </li>
<li>Paint brushes round head No 10, No 6</li>
<li>A mop brush</li>
<li>A small fan brush, Rigger No 2</li>
<li>Flat brush 1-2 inches</li>
<li>2B pencil</li>
</ul>

Please see what to bring for the first session; the tutor will advise you on where to buy any of the items above you do not have.

Stable internet connection, a tablet or PC and ability to use to use ZOOM if course has to transfer online.

Refunds and cancellations

<ul>
<li>If we have to cancel your course your fees will be refunded in full. We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</li>
<li>If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</li>
<li>If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</li>
<li>Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</li>
<li>We are not able to offer refunds due to sickness or ill health.</li>

If you are due a refund you must contact the office within 3 months of the course to arrange payment as we do not keep card details.

When attending an online course, it is a learner’s responsibility to ensure they have adequate internet access before the start of a course. Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.
