Description

Five-day, hands-on workshop suitable for both beginners and more experienced students as it is project focused – what you learn depends on the piece of furniture you bring. It is advisable not to bring anything bigger than an armchair. Friendly, informative tuition from tutor experienced in all aspects of traditional or modern upholstery required to renovate your project piece.

What can students expect?

Hands-on experience from the start; they will begin work on their project the first lesson. There may be dust involved when stripping the furniture therefore dress appropriately. There could be loose tacks and staples on the floor so suitable footwear required. As the learning is based on individuals’ projects, and the percentage of new to experienced learners will vary term to term, the pace of tuition can be uneven, please be patient!

Please note due to storage limitations, all pieces of furniture MUST be taken home at the end of the Summer School. Pieces left behind without prior agreement will be disposed of.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, but there will be proportionately less time to do the project in.

Previous experience required?

No. Experience of hand and/or machine sewing will be useful.

What is the progression route?

Further upholstery classes until learner confident.

Are there any extra costs?

Yes. The materials learners need are either supplied by the Tutor at a moderate cost or can be purchased elsewhere by the learners. Top cover fabric +/- braid is also required.

Work set between sessions?

No, but if appropriate learners can carry on at home should they wish.

What should students bring?

A manageable piece of furniture on the first day, not sofas or chaise longues. Only bring top cover fabric to the first session if doing a very small piece of furniture.

Most tools will be available to use but you must bring:

Refunds and cancellations

Course Cancellations by Us

• If we cancel your course, your fees will be refunded in full.

• We cannot reimburse the cost of any materials you may have purchased.

Cancellations by You

• If you cancel 7 days or more before the course start date: Refund issued minus a 20% administration fee.

• If you cancel less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: No refund will be issued.

Transfers

• Transfers must be requested at least 7 days before the course start date.

• A 10% transfer fee applies.

• Transfers due to our cancellation of your original course are free of charge.

Illness and Absence

• No refunds are available for non-attendance due to sickness or ill health.

How Refunds Are Issued

• Refunds are returned via the original payment method:

• Booked online or by phone - Refund to the card used.

• Paid in person at Stoke Lodge - Please bring your payment card to the office.

Online Course Access

• Learners are responsible for ensuring they have suitable internet access and equipment before the course begins.
