Description

Part 3 will analyse the philosophical trends of our times. Political philosophy and the challenges of Democracy, Installation theory, Philosophical feminism, behavioural philosophy, Consciousness and Ethics, and many other critical thinking topics. We examine contemporary challenges of globalisation as well as populism.

What can students expect?

Stimulating discussion about the meaning of human existence in our contemporary world, challenging our own perceptions and perspectives of knowledge and reality.

The learning experience is meant to stimulate and keep the mind active while developing critical thinking in all aspects of social, political, cultural and scientific life.

Late starters allowed?

Yes, if there are still places available, but please check with the office at Stoke Lodge.

Previous experience required?

No not at all. You only need to have a sense of wonder, curiosity and desire to know. You do not need previous experience of Philosophy but having done Part 1 and 2 would be an advantage.

What is the progression route?

Join Part 4 A

Are there any extra costs?

No.

Work set between sessions?

No, but learners will be recommended to do some reading or watch some podcasts. This is optional.

What should students bring?

Pen and paper, and an open mind, ready to ask questions.

Teaching method/style?

- Presentation of ideas by the tutor.

- Discussion in small groups and discussion in the larger group.

- Listening to selected sections of podcasts.

<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>

Refund processing

<li>Refunds for online or telephone enrolments will be made via the original payment method within 14 days of approval. </li>
<li>If you enrolled in the office, you will need to come in with your payment card to arrange a refund.</li>

Transfers

<li>7 days or more before the start date: transfer minus a 10% transfer fee.</li>
<li>Less than 7 days before the start date or after the course has started: no transfer provided.</li>
<li>All transfers are subject to availability.</li>
<li>Transfers between Language levels may be possible with less than 7 days notice, subject to availability.</li>
<li>Enrolments are non-transferable. If you are unable to attend, you will not be able to send another person in your place.</li>
<li>If we cancel your course, and you wish to transfer to another course this will be free of charge.</li>
