<p><span style="font-size:16px">This Part 4 B course will continue the fascinating journey, investigations into and debates about the big questions in Philosophy.</span></p>

What can students expect?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">We will continue our fascinating discussion about human knowledge, its value and the meaning and position our human life in the universe.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">This is a fascinating course which will explore influential philosophical conceptions such as the Socratic legacy over the centuries, Postmodernism, Individualism in the context of Theism and Nihilism, Communism and Pluralism. Join the debate about our existential being in the world, its meaning and how these ideas have captured intellectual imagination and shaped human lives across the globe. Keep questioning your knowledge of reality and explore the unknown from various perspectives.  The learning experience is meant to stimulate and keep the mind active while developing critical thinking in all aspects of social, political, cultural and scientific life.</span></p>

Late starters allowed?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Yes, if there are still places available; please check with tutor via the Stoke Lodge office first.</span></p>

Previous experience required?

<p><span style="font-size:12.0pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">No. You only need to have a sense of wonder, curiosity and desire to know. You do not need previous experience of Philosophy but having done the Philosophy courses Parts 1 to 3 would be an advantage.</span></span></p>

What is the progression route?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">You can continue with Part 4 C, then Part 5.</span></p>

Are there any extra costs?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">No.</span></p>

Work set between sessions?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">No but learners will be recommended to do some reading or watch some podcasts. This is optional.</span></p>

What should students bring?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">Pen and paper, and an open mind, ready to ask questions.</span></p>

Teaching method/style?

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- Presentation of ideas by the tutor.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- Discussion in small groups and discussion in the larger group.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:16px">- Listening so selected sections of podcasts.</span></p>

Refunds and cancellations

We are unable to reimburse the cost of materials you may have bought for the course.</span></strong></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">If you cancel your course booking a week (7 days) or more before the start date we will refund your fees minus an admin charge of 20%.</span></strong></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">If you cancel with less than a week (7 days) before the start date or after the course has started, we will not be able to refund your fees.</span></strong></span></span></li>
<li><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><strong><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Transfers will incur a fee of 10% and must be requested 7 days or more before the start of a course unless you are transferring to another course because your original course was cancelled.</span></strong></span></span></li>

Refunds will not be given for technical failure of a learner’s home computer or their internet access.</span></strong></span></span></p>
