The colourful life of Cleopatra and her times

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">Everyone has heard of Cleopatra, but how much do you know of her life? This short one-off course presents a brief biography of her extraordinary life and invites the questions of whether she was an innocent caught in a tangled political web, or an arch intriguer and plotter. </span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-size:12pt"><span style="font-family:&#34;Times New Roman&#34;,serif"><span style="font-family:&#34;Arial&#34;,sans-serif">We will look at her colourful life as presented by the various sources, including her famous meeting with Julius Caesar when she was rolled up in a carpet, and her tragic death by poisonous snake. In particular we will focus on her relationships with Caesar and Mark Antony, and ask whether they were genuine, or careful manipulation of those around her. We will also touch on why she has become such an icon over the centuries.</span></span></span></p>
